When I’m not thinking of an object lesson to share God’s love with our Bethany Kids, I can be found hiking the various desert trails, grilling, gardening, enjoying Greek food, or playing golf. I once played 18 holes in 4 states in ONE day! Spontaneous and adventuresome are words I like in discovering Arizona’s hidden outdoor gems and new restaurants, but the time with my two sons and wife, Robyn, are what bring me the most joy! …and if the Cubs won another World Series, that would be awesome too!

My family and I have been attending BBC for about 13 years. I married my high school sweetheart, we have 6 beautiful children. I like to make cupcakes and recycle/refurbish furniture in my free time; when I’m not running kids around. Coffee is my life line.

A jack of all trades and a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.  I have been blessed to be married to the love of my life and we have raised 6 wonderful children. I have been a Christian most of my life. I was 7 years old when I was baptized by my Grandfather in a lake. God has been gracious to me, with a life better than I deserve.

I am a Minnesota native who wound up in the desert with my husband, Alex and our 3 children. He is originally from Phoenix and I was tired of being cold. As a family, we enjoy playing video games, biking, camping, hiking, soccer and basically anything that gets us outdoors. If I am lucky enough to get a spare minute, you can find me reading, baking, crafting or relaxing on the couch with a cat on my lap and coffee in hand.

Besides raising three daughters and working at churches in California, I spent many happy years working on the technical side of theatrical productions and church services. 

In 2005 we left California and started our lives here in Phoenix. When my husband David (on the BBC facilities staff) and I are not at work we love spending time with our adult children and our 9 grandchildren at their sporting events and activities. I also enjoy directing a non-profit organization that teaches children: music, drama and choreography while they learn about Jesus and put on a show.

In addition to my full-time role as the Director of Church Partnerships at Phoenix Seminary, I am thankful to serve during this leadership transition at Bethany through preaching and consulting with the Board of Elders. For over forty-five years, I have been privileged to pastor two congregations, to provide leadership training on four continents and to help in founding Phoenix Seminary. Emily and I have been married for almost fifty years and thank God daily for our two sons, one daughter-in-law and two precious grandchildren. Beyond my love for preaching the Word and shepherding God’s people, I thoroughly enjoy spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing golf.

I've grown up at Bethany since diapers and I reluctantly answered God's call to serve in worship when I was in high school, and now God has blessed me with the opportunity to lead worship for Bethany. I love it more than I could ever have anticipated. At home, I love playing electric guitar, recording music, and listening to metal of all kinds. I'm so thankful for godly parents who have pushed me towards Christ and help shape me into the man I am today.

A good meal shared with friends, a winning goal at my grandsons’ soccer games, and draining a putt for birdie (which is rare!) bring joy to my heart. We’ve had the privilege of a long-term ministry and encouraging younger leaders of other churches for many years here in the valley. When not serving at BBC, life revolves around our son and daughter’s families and our four grandsons, golf, travel, live music, and the Phoenix Suns.
